Initially I started in real estate one day a week in a friend’s commercial real estate agency doing the Rental Trust. Before I knew it, I was picked up by a small commercial CBD agency and ran their Trust Account part time for a couple of years. When their property manager left I put up my hand for that job too and ended up working full time – 9 years later I joined Dixon Kestles. I have been here, heading up the Commercial Property Management Department, for 14 years now. A total of 22 years in commercial property management next month!
Did you grow up in Melbourne? Tell us a little about where you are from and where you live now…
I was born in Devon in the UK and came to Melbourne when I was in primary school, so you could say I grew up in Melbourne. I have been living in Richmond for the last 10 years and love it. I am right in the middle of all the action in Swan Street and really close to the MCG and the sporting precinct plus I’m close to work.
What was your favorite TV show when growing up?
The Love Boat and re-runs of M*A*S*H
What is one thing you could not live without?
Describe your ultimate holiday?
This is an easy one – travelling anywhere around the Mediterranean, with my best friends (being my husband and our two adult children) and not being contactable by anyone. In fact, all holidays are great – most recent memorable ones being Amalfi Coast and Sicily, simply stunning!
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
Stay young and live forever – there is so much to do in this life, and so many places to go and explore and live – I need a new life for each adventure!
If I tell you, then it’s not in the ‘closet’ anymore!
Richmond - since Dusty Martin came on board. I love his style, enthusiasm, commitment and attitude. And Collingwood – to keep the peace at home!
No, can’t think of one strange talent!
What is the best thing about your job?
My team! The people I work with and interact with.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
1. See the Northern Lights
2. Golf handicap under 10
3. Live in Italy for 12 months
What is the greatest piece of advice you have received?
'Qui cum canibus concumbunt cum pulicibus surgent' - Which means, ‘If you lie down with dogs, you’ll get up with fleas’ - Just another way of saying, ‘Choose your friends wisely’.
